DIY // Goldleaf Easter Eggs

April 15, 2017

Easter is literally tomorrow and, I cant help but gush over all of the cute decorations. From Easter wreaths to precious bunny tablescapes, I am totally in love with all pastel colors and cutesy decorations! This Easter, I am headed to California to visit my family. I am excited because because it will be Miles’s first Easter spent with his little cousins! He is going to have an absolute blast tomorrow watching all of the kids run around as they hunt for Easter eggs. When we get together with my family, I am typically in charge of an activity to do with the kids. Every year we dye Easter eggs, but we never know what to do with them afterwards. The eggs typically end up in the trash because the colors are always mismatched and messy looking (since the kids have more fun making a mess than making the Easter eggs look cute). This year, I had the idea of turning the kids’ eggs into a beautiful little masterpieces by adding gold leaf to all of their Easter Eggs!Today, I am sharing a tutorial on how you can take your average Easter egg and elevate it into a chic gold leaf’ed egg! Using this technique, you can take Easter eggs dyed by your kiddos and them into a sophisticated and elegant detail that will add an extra pop to your decorations. Follow the simple steps below to turn drab into fab!

DIY Goldleaf Easter EggsMaterials:-Eggs-Easter Egg dying kit-Glue Stick-Gold leaf paper (Available at Micheal’s)-Paint brushDirections:Step one: Dye your Easter Eggs! Follow the instructions on the Egg dying kit. You can dye your own eggs or use eggs that have been previously dyed by your kiddos! (That way, you can get the kids involved but leave the “beautifying” part up to you!)

Step two: Using the glue stick lightly apply a thin layer of glue all around the eggs. The glue does not have to be evenly applied, it can be separating and splotchy!

Step Three:Carefully take a sheet of the gold leaf paper and gently rub it onto the egg. Using a paint brush slowly brush off excess gold leaf. The amazing thing about using this technique is that imperfections make each egg more unique and beautiful.Once you are finished gold leafing, you can use these guilted eggs to adorn a tablescape, entryway table or center piece! With that, I would like to wish you and your family a joy filled Easter and, that you are reminded of Gods unending love and grace for us. Sending all my love! Jeannie
